About Appèl
Appèl is a Dutch caterer and family business based in Brabant with over 45 years of experience. The company provides healthy and tasty meals in company restaurants, school canteens, campuses and other catering locations throughout the country. With innovative catering concepts, Appèl creates meeting places where good food, vitality and sustainability are central. In this way, the company contributes daily to a more vital and sustainable lifestyle for all generations.
The client's challenge
As a supplier to government institutions, Appèl must comply with the Internationale Sociale Voorwaarden (ISV). Based on this obligation, and on their own corporate social responsibility ambition, Appèl sought support in identifying environmental and human rights risks in their chain and drawing up an action plan to manage these risks. The aim is to be able to report demonstrable progress to clients and to lay a solid foundation for Appèl's Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD) process.
Our approach
Together with Appèl, 2impact conducted a risk and saliency assessment for two product groups that fall under the ISV requirements. This involved identifying and prioritising the most significant human rights and environmental risks in its value chain. Based on the findings and an analysis of existing policy documents, 2impact drew up targeted recommendations for each step of the HREDD process.
These recommendations formed the basis for a concrete action plan, which Appèl will submit to its clients. In addition, 2impact supported the company in completing the ISV questionnaire. Through regular consultation and joint development of the action plan, 2impact provided Appèl with the knowledge and structure to carry out future ISV cycles independently and efficiently.
The result
With the support of 2impact, Appèl systematically mapped its chain risks in the areas of the environment and human rights for the first time. Based on this analysis, the company drew up a concrete action plan that meets the requirements for ISV.
Appèl now has a clear structure for monitoring risks, implementing improvement measures and reporting transparently to clients. This means the organisation is well prepared for future ISV cycles and further tightening of due diligence obligations in the food sector.
Our positive experience with 2impact during the preparation for the CSRD in 2024 made a new collaboration a natural next step. 2impact understands the challenges within the catering industry and, through their HRDD expertise and pleasant collaboration, has helped us meet ISV requirements now and in the future.
